Todd Asin from Small City Cycles, just to the left of Bakersfield in Idaho, is building this sweet and sour pre-unit for the Born Free 5 builders invitational build-off and it is one of the bikes you can pick if you got the winning ticket, but you can't win if you don't play! I've got her in the spray booth right now and this is one hell of a color!

Biker Bruce's Belated Breakfast Run

Our esteemed buddy Bruce had a birthday over the weekend but we missed the party in Perris at the sprint car races so we saddled up for a bite out at cooks corner this fine morning.

See you all at Alexs today for Karla's memorial party. I had planned to paint my friends bike for her birthday, but won't get that chance. So I painted this up for her to be in auction/raffle that will go to support her family. Sweet old butts fiberglass flake gelcoat with a "nat quick" all-over thumbprint and paneling.

This gem came in just in time for summer, hope it never ends...
Nice unmolested 1951 EL from my buddy Joe in New Hampshire. Runs great and has lots of neat stuff on it. Gonna have to keep this one!

Splitting Lanes is still not a crime

Aaron Elliot up in Salinas, California has this killer custom rigid Sportster for sale. it seems like most people (including me) don't quite realize how fast this year is flying by! It is already May and there are only 55 days left to Born-Free 5!!! THe show is gonna be out of this world this year and it still kinda gives me chills what's happened to it in a short 5 years.

3/4 Scale Salt Shakin'



My friend David's little Bonneville bike.  This was before it hit the salt, and you can imagine what it did to all of that bare metal.  The bike's all blown apart now and coming back together with a pre-unit transmission, paint, and different geometry.  Being that it's a race bike, I'm pushing him to use a front end and brake that are lighter.  Great little machine, and David has done nearly all of the work himself.

So here is some simple arithmetic, $500+ in materials(quality, not pretend play paint)
15-50 hours in labor or more
Prep
Polish
Pinstriping
Shop
not including the thought process required to put together a successful layout/color combination
And we have something few people respect enough to want to pay for.
Well this Saturday some lucky someone is going to get a $2000.00 paintjob for $50.00
Why?
Because I support my friends and I support the hard working individual, the dreamer, the person who believes they have a lucky day coming to them in the form of a deep kandy apple blue, carribean murano scalloped pnut tank and fender!
