Here we go...

A few years ago - maybe four now - I picked up a roachy FXR while back in NY visiting family. The plan was to put a handful of good parts on it (cam, carb, ignition, clutch), change a few very small cosmetic things, and ride around on something semi-reliable.

Best laid plans. Lost out of state title, unable to reach prior owner, Triumphs and Panheads, lack of interest, lack of plan, nearly impossible backbone to make a tank look good on (or so I thought)...blah.

At-any-rate, something changed a few weeks ago, I re-gained interest in the bike, put a solid plan together for the finished product, and somehow ended up with a bare frame and a motorcycle worth of parts in my garage. My hope is to have a rolling, stopping, painted and polished machine back together, sans motor and trans., by the end of August. I'll try to post updates here and there along the way.



On an unrelated note, our daffodils and tulips are strong this year. I love me some flowers!

Saturday was a good day to get back into it, cleaning the shop and my shovelhead. Rode down to the Street Chopper party with Mike on his Superglide Boattail.
Looks like i was the last on a bike to leave Gabe's new Bar HookUp, had to turn in early to get up to ride to Ventura for the Dave Mann show.




















Rode up with my good friend and all around nice guy Dave "Golden hands" Polgreen from St Paul. He rode Jeff Leighton's FXR and we braved the cold for a nice ride north.
Got to the show, rolled my bike in and paid $40 to put it in still a little fuzzy from the ride, pushed it to the last remaining row and then thought to myself "what did i just do???"
 $40 to put it into an always ho-hum show??? Don't get me wrong, it was a nice day spent with friends, but the show is small and littered with some ugly bikes....oh well.
Polgreen and i split around 1 with the sun shining and jammed back to Long Beach. Good times.

(SOLD PENDING PAYMENT) Got a legendary big twin fixer upper here for the price of a sportster! It's a 1982 first year FXR with a shovelhead motor and 5 speed. Narrowglide with dual discs, rear disc. original HD gauges, tall pullback T-bars. California blue plate with title, non-op registration so no hassles at the DMV!
IT needs general TLC  like the gas tank cleaned out, been sitting for a couple years. Turns over, lights and horn work. Needs a carb insulator block and o-ring and throttle cable and it might fire up!
If you put mags and a different seat on this thing it'd be as cool as they come!
