rock and roll...
Back when i actually used to go out and stay up late to watch rock and roll shows i also used to shoot many of them... this was Indian Jewelry back in May of 2008 in the only good bar in Knoxville, TN called the Pilot Light. I had seen them open for someone at Spaceland in LA a year or two before and was just kinda whatever about them at the time, but the show in Knoxville was captivating.
I had to go to Knoxville every year for work and came back to this place every night i was there on each trip. Even made a few friends. Bought a 1972 Fender Musicmaster Bass from this guy Will Fist after he played his set which was one 20-minute song. It was actually good, very Spacemen 3 before everyone and their mother referenced Spacemen 3 to be cool. I asked him about the bass the year before and he remembered and asked me a year later if i still wanted it. Guess he needed money. Paid him the $175 asking price.
I should get out more these days.

Japan 2012...1710 pictures
I only took 1710 pictures this year in Japan for our trip to the Mooneyes Hot Rod & Custom Show. I'll try and start going through them... We had another amazing time there. We saw all our old friends and keep meeting great new ones. I would saw the show was even better than the 3 previous years i have attended, the bar is perpetually raised by all the builders over there, hats off to you. And hats off to Shige and the whole Moon staff for doing what they do and all the work that goes into pulling off a show this size! I kinda have a clue as what it takes... Mike's Preunit looked amazing as did the rest of the guests bikes. Many of them are our Born-Free 4 builders and award winners which was cool to see it taking them places.
Thanks again to everyone that hung out, took us around, let us into your shop or home! We love you. Now i'm more jazzed than ever to get my '37 UL done!!!

New Shirt, New Project
So back in August I acquired this 1941 porkchop express. Original plan was on the cycle-delic side, but as most plans go... The new direction is definitely hinged at the birth of the atomic age-the glorious post war days of the custom motorcycle. Still a long way to go, with a short time to get there. Anyway Grant had a great idea for a new shirt and I put pen to paper, incorporating this project and voila, our new pocket tee.

Born-Free 5 news...Are you sitting down?
Here's the latest on the BF 5 Giveaway Bike & if you don't already know Born-Free has a blog full of updates ,show info, photos and videos. www.bornfreeshow.com
Doing these giveaway bikes has been a lot of fun and very exciting the last few years...but always a tough decision on what to do each year and how to make it better and keep you all interested. What trumps the '50 Panhead of BF2? a '46 Knuckle for BF3.. kinda hard to beat a Knuckle but 2 '69 Shovel's at BF4 did the trick...It's BF 5 and now what do we do? Here is the plan....
We have gotten together with some of our builders (16 as of today) more to be announced soon. These guys will build their totally new show bikes for the BF5 builder invite..They will build some of the best Knuckles,Pans,Shovels,Flatheads,Triumphs, ect on the planet .We will sell our original artwork posters w/free tickets that will enter you in the promo just like previous years but instead of us pre-determining the bike we give away...the winner gets to pick! Yes you!! You buy a poster w/ free ticket and if your number is pulled at the show you will be able to pick (one) bike from the Born-Free 5 builders that are participating in the promo... You pick your favorite bike from your favorite builder!
The decision is yours! We will have much more info and details soon...
This year you must be present to win!
Again you must be present to win!
So make your plans now. Here are just some of the builders who have committed :: Andy Carter (Pangea Speed), Big Scott(Cycle Zombies), Josh Conely, Bill Mize, Caleb Owens, Chopper Dave, Dave Barker (Speedmetal), Dave Polgreen, Joey( The Fish) Cano, Kiyo, Larry( Garage Company Customs), Domenic Mingiruli, Todd Asin (Small City CYcles), Kouske( SunRise Cycles), Kevin "Teach" Baas, and Max Schaaf. One lucky soul will win the bike of their dreams on June 29 Th. 2013....Born-Free 5...
Now, that's something to think about!

Nothing swims like a Deere
Sometimes things get a little weird and you end up surfing a John Deere in 53 degree water in a state with legal weed but no drinking in the strip club. Man, the places life takes you. Or you take it?
