Old Panhead Chopper----sold

SOLD: 1948 Harley Panhead old show bike chopper fresh out of storage. This old panhead was built in New York back in the day and features lots of good old Harley parts. It has polished engine cases and transmission with a jockey top and police style hand shifter. It has a nice M74-B Linkert carb, points, and still has a 6-Volt charging system!
It has an original Harley rigid frame that has up stretch and rake in it for a nice stance with the extended early ('49-57) wideglide frontend that has nice chrome trees, chromed lowers that are in excellent shape, Forking by Frank tubes, and the stock glide drum brake assembly. It has about 4" tall risers and nice chopper style ape hangers. Mechanical brake in the rear, old Barr Ent solo seat and nice old p-pad. It has star hubs and 16" wheel in the rear, and soon to have a 21" in the front. I'll be switching out the 19 up front in the next day or two.
The paint is really cool and is signed by "Sinbad" on the rear fender. The bike looks black, but it is dark blue metallic with dark purple ghost flames that start on the front fender (off in some pics) and continue on the tank, the frame, and rear fender! The original paint has been polishing up very nice and could be an old lacquer job.
The bike had been off the road for the last decade and i just detailed it, primed the motor, cleaned the carb out, and got it running again. It runs well and is a fun bike to ride! it has old New York registration, but will soon have a California title. Will ship anywhere worldwide at the buyer's expense, but i can drop at any LA area shipper. Bike is located in SoCal.
Email grant@getchoppedout.com to buy.
I will try and post a video of it running. More pics available

Sturgis Bound

Dropped off my art yesterday for shipment to the buffalo chip exhibit yesterday. Some of the finest choppers in the land were there too getting ready to be loaded up. Finally got a chance to ogle some of these sweet rides.

Chopper of the week

There is just something about the color orange and Harley Davidsons that go hand in hand so beautifully. One day I will paint an orange pearl bike for myself...

Happy Friday

Just stole this off instagram.

The other NY

My family and I are lucky to live in Seattle, but we're originally from rural NY. Even after ten years of living in the Pacific Northwest, NY is still home.
Each summer my mother and father-in-law and my wife and our two kids hop in a flying tin can and head to the Adirondack mountains. We spend some time up here on a nice lake (The Great Sacandaga), and then we head down to the southern part of the state to visit my side of the family. One of the things I like most about coming back here each summer is what you see in the picture above - space.
With that space we do things like fish and swim and Jet Ski and get muddy on things with motors and wheels and tires that crash through the woods. That's our son up there, and right after I snapped the picture his head exploded because he was so happy. I can't think of anything better than being nine years old on a four wheeler or dirt bike with a full tank of gas. Not sex, not great food, not a sandy beach, not nuthin'.
Mom had these wizards up on a shelf in the utility closet. I completely forgot about them from when I was a kid in the 80's, but man, they took me back.
Happiness is a stocked pond.
Weirdness is whatever this is. If I took pictures of all of the crazy stuff like this we've seen over the past few weeks, you'd think I grew up in West Virginia. Not that there's probably much difference, really.
before i the UL came into my life i was gearing up to build a panhead kinda like this...then the UL came and i sold all the panhead stuff to make the flathead happen...still something to think about...

Happy birthday Clyde!

Today is a special day. It is Clyde's 3rd birthday, well since the day he wandered into jeff holts neighbors house dirty, hungry, shaggy, and lost. We tried finding out where he lived but with no success. He passed all my requirements for a dog (squirly looking, doesnt shed, and not from a pet store or breeder) so much to the QP's delight we finally got a dog.
He's been such a fun little guy and makes it fun to come home everyday. He hangs out at the cycle lodge and likes everyone except Gabe's feet.
He is a great example of why you should never buy dogs at a pet store. There are too many great dogs that need a home. Adopt, rescue, etc.

And yes he is named after clyde the orangutang from every which way but loose.

Pride of Lions

Our friend Mark just picked up this 69 cb750 chopper. He sold the rare sand cast motor to a restorer and decided the wonderful tank needed a new home at the Cycle Lodge. His name is Paul and he is a Leo. Paul loves all the women of the world, but loves his new FMA hat most of all.

The far East

Can't wait to go back in December. I was on a forum recently and the whole shipping bikes overseas came up and the ignorant chimed in with all their chest pounding and blaming the Japanese for all kinds of stuff. I only blame them for building and riding cool motorcycles, and making wonderful friends...I hope the ignorant travel the world some day.

This was two years ago in Kyoto. We were leaving the largest and oldest wooden structure in the world. This magnificent Japanese temple...

This Saturday in St. Paul! Full TIlt!
