Day 3

Today some things started coming together! Got the chassis pretty well setup. The rear ladder bars and crossmember was a big step as well as the partial frame boxing. We moved the steering box and started on the motor mounts. The car now sits on its own weight and is square and true!
Tomorrow we need to do the tranny mount and finish welding a bunch of the chassis stuff. Next would be the pedal assembly.
Calling in sick tomorrow...for work...which is funny that I'm not going to work on hot rods so I can work on a hot rod...

Day 2

So day 2 on my dads car was a bit of a challenge. We were juggling the rearend setup, mounting the ladder bars, motor and Trans placement, trying to find space for the steering box, cutting the firewall and removing the stock center crossmember...lots of stuff the kinda looks like we didn't do anything for the 11 hours we were at the shop!
But that's how it goes, hopefully tomorrow we see some forward progress.

Weekend work

My dad flew into town and we are thrashing on his '31 model A coupe to try and make it a roller and whip up some motor and tranny mounts so he can take it home and then finish the mechanicals, plumbing, and wiring. I found some '34 wishbones, an old dropped axle, and a few other things for the frontend, it has a quick change already out back, and the body is the cleanest model a body I've ever seen!
Thanks to My good friend Jimmy White for giving u the key to his hop Circle City Hot Rods for the weekend to knock all this out.

Letter to an old friend

I miss you old buddy and I hope you're doing well. I know you've changed a little since our time together, but I bet you're still the same old cantankerous goat you always were. Keep the rubber side down. Anthony

Born-Free builder video #2

Check out Righteous Joe:
please repost!

Here we go...

A few years ago - maybe four now - I picked up a roachy FXR while back in NY visiting family. The plan was to put a handful of good parts on it (cam, carb, ignition, clutch), change a few very small cosmetic things, and ride around on something semi-reliable.

Best laid plans. Lost out of state title, unable to reach prior owner, Triumphs and Panheads, lack of interest, lack of plan, nearly impossible backbone to make a tank look good on (or so I thought)...blah.

At-any-rate, something changed a few weeks ago, I re-gained interest in the bike, put a solid plan together for the finished product, and somehow ended up with a bare frame and a motorcycle worth of parts in my garage. My hope is to have a rolling, stopping, painted and polished machine back together, sans motor and trans., by the end of August. I'll try to post updates here and there along the way.

On an unrelated note, our daffodils and tulips are strong this year. I love me some flowers!

Flathead to-do's

My misc pile of stuff for the UL is growing. Gotta dial in all the little things. Motor is almost done. Gotta build the trans too...
Worked on the '37 only oil tank I scored on eBay that had some later male flare fittings welded over the banjo fitting bungs.
As I suspected they were nice underneath after some careful dissecting.

Born-Free Builder Video number 1

a couple of weeks ago i met photographer and video ace Mark Choiniere over at Seal Beach's own Wil Thomas' house to do the first of our Born-Free Builder videos. Wil was a natural and we have close to an hour of him spilling the beans on life, choppers, feelings, and style. Mark did an excelent job putting the footage together and trimming it down to a few minutes of pure enjoyment.
check it out and click it to full screen mode. Always check the BORN-FREE BLOG for updates. Spread the video around if you please, repost!

Felt like some Dave Mann this morning. How about this from an old Jammer's catalog? How about the sorta crazy franks, and plunger frame with the Jammer wheels and awesome background?

Born-free 4

Summer of '69s.

••SOLD••Have I got a deal for you••SOLD••

••All gone•• I recently came across a lot of early 60's - 1975 Playboy magazines, and I really only need one of each issue, so here's the deal:

$16 for five issues, including shipping. That's less than $2.50 per issue, and you damn sure aren't getting them on eBay for that.

Here's how you get 'em:

-Email me if you're interested arobinson0217 at gmail.com (replace spaces and 'at' w/ @ symbol)
-I will email you back w/ my PayPal address
-Send me money and your magazines hit the mail by mid-week, next week

And here's the fine print, which isn't really fine:

-US only, no international shipping
-No requests for specific years, issues, etc. I'll give you a good mix, don't worry.
-When they're gone, they're gone. I'll update this post when that time comes.
-These things are cool. Beyond featuring women that actually look like, well, women, they have some pretty great car, cycle, travel, art, movie and book reviews, as well as good writing - something that seems to have gone the way of the Dodo in modern magazines.
-I will be sending a bunch of these to the Cycle Lodge because Harpoon and Grant are a-ok.••All gone••
